Hungarian as a Language of the European Union
Hungarian has been an official language of the European Union since 2004 and therefore designated as a standard for operating instructions and technical documentation. With 13.5 million speakers Hungarian is ranked in 9th place within the Union. It is the only non-Indo-European language that is spoken in the Central European region. It belongs with Sami, Estonian, Finnish and a range of languages spoken in European Russia and in Northern Siberia to the Uralic linguistical group which is said (albeit contested among linguists) even to be related to the Korean.
In addition to the 9.5 million Hungarians, there are approx. 3 million people total in Romania, Serbia, Ukraine and Slovakia who speak Hungarian as their native language.
The philologist Jacob Grimm recommended studying Hungarian to anyone who wants to create new, easy to learn constructed languages. It might actually be possible to describe Hungarian like a programming language in which the root would represent the command and the endings the options.
Transline will provide you with a translation of your documentation in all 23 official languages of the European Union.
