Right now, coming together at a global level is more important than ever. The corona pandemic knows no borders. While people no longer physically leave their countries, we are all moving closer together in the race against the virus – no matter where we live on this planet.
The Reutlingen-based language professionals were immediately on board when the initiators of the #maskeauf project asked Transline for help: The www.maskeauf.de website had to be translated into multiple languages to encourage the world to wear a face mask and slow down the spread of the virus. The campaign calls on everyone to join in.
Celebrities campaign for #maskeauf
“We've already achieved a lot over the last few days. We now know how to encourage people to wear the mask, how to make simple masks and how to use them effectively. We've already convinced several celebrities of our concept, including the likes of Lena Meyer-Landrut, Joy Denalane and many more.” Friedemann Karig is convinced that “if everyone in public places wears a mouth and nose mask, the spread of Covid-19 can be slowed down.” And because medical masks are needed at the medical frontline, people have to get creative and make their own – from kitchen towels, vacuum cleaner bags or tea towels. “We have to take this idea to all corners of the world, so we can manage to contain the virus.”
Reach people where it's vital
In most countries, hygiene conditions and medical care are much worse than here. #maskeauf has recognised this and decided in the last few days to internationalise the initiative as quickly and effectively as possible, by translating the #maskeauf website into multiple languages. Transline is involved pro bono: “We have taken on a total of 14 languages, including a few rather exotic ones. Bengali, Tami, Khmer and Afrikaans, for example, have almost been completed already,” says Katja Schabert, CEO of Transline. “Bringing people around the world together through language is what we do. We are happy to support the initiative with its important mission to be understood and heard all over the world.”
Friedemann Karig is also enthusiastic: “With Transline's support, we can already reach over two billion people worldwide in the next few days, in Indonesian, Finnish, Bosnian, Flemish, Turkish or Hebrew, to name just a few.”
#translate4industrie – special coronavirus discount
Transline is also putting on the mask. And continues to use its many specialisations to bring the world closer together through language, whether in software localization, e-commerce or very important drug studies.
