Transline at the tekom 2017

Information and presentation at the annual conference in Stuttgart from 24 – 26 October 2017.

Same procedure as last year? Almost! This year, too, language service provider Transline will be contributing to the international trade fair for technical communication with information on translation, terminology and process management.

However: This time our visitors will have to look very closely, because we will be presenting ourselves in a new corporate design at this year's conference – So don't walk past stand 2/C08, because we have a lot to offer:

You can look forward to a new prize draw at the Transline stand! And on Wednesday, 25 October, you can relax and enjoy a nice beer in the evening...

You are also cordially invited to attend our exciting conference talks:

Tuesday, 24 October, 14:45, room C7.2:

Introduction to Simplified Technical English (STE)

Oksana Mikitisin, Transline Deutschland GmbH

What is STE? Who uses it? How practical and useful is it for German editors who write in English? How is STE used successfully? Our presentation addresses all these issues and introduces important rules and principles.

Wednesday, 25 October, 14:45, room C7.3:

From natural diversity to a standardised translation process

Viktor Rempel, Miele & Cie. KG, Gütersloh
Adrian Schröder, Miele & Cie. KG, Gütersloh
Saša Tripković, Transline Deutschland GmbH

How are all participants interconnected globally in the translation process at Miele? And how is an efficient query management system possible – often across national borders? How do SAP generated abbreviations flow directly into the terminology here? And how do you actually achieve a high level of automation? This best-practice presentation examines a case study to illustrate the concept of centralisation in the translation services sector and beyond.

Thursday, 26 October, 11:15, room C7.3:

Mix it, baby: achieving the right balance between translation and adaptation

Dr-Ing. Wolfgang Sturz, Transline Gruppe GmbH

Does the reader of a translation have to know the culture of the source text? Or do texts not only have to be translated word-for-word, but also adapted to the cultures of the target languages? Using these questions as a framework, this presentation considers different text types and shows what should be kept in mind when producing texts for different target groups around the world.

Make an appointment with us. This will ensure that we have enough time for you, even in the hustle and bustle of the conference. And read our tekom newsletter. You can find more information about the event on the tekom website.
