File formats for technical translations at transline
transline translates documents from nearly all file formats using Windows, Mac and Linux.
You, the customer, can choose whether you would like to receive your translation in the source format or in a different format in which the structure has been converted - transline will handle the conversion process for you.
We can translate pure text files, XML files and XML derivatives or XML-related files (such as HTML, SGML, etc.) and deliver them in the set of characters that you specify - e.g., ASCII, ANSI, UTF-8, big5, gb2312, etc.

Translatability of file formats
The various file formats differ in their translatability. Some formats (such as WinWord) can be translated directly by the translator without any technical preparation. Other formats such as QuarkXPress have to be pre- and post-processed to assure the quality of the translation.
Using transcycling® and terminology databases, which can result in increased quality and reduced costs in the case of large volumes or similar translations, is only possible for most file formats if the documents have been pre-processed/pre-flighted.
The translatability of a file format is thus an important part of pricing at transline.
