Walloon – Regional Language with Tradition
The Walloon language is spoken in Wallonia (the French-speaking part of Belgium) and in smaller areas in the northeast of France near the Belgian border. However, the French is used exclusively as the official language; the Walloon on the other hand gets only limited official recognition. The language is considered as stand-alone by some linguists, whereas others consider the Walloon as a French dialect. The Walloon was superseded by the French during the Middle Ages; a Walloon literature has re-emerged in the more recent past.
Because the French is the official language in Wallonia, it is also the key language for trade and the economy. Walloon idiosyncrasies should be taken into consideration in the case of translations for this part of Belgium notwithstanding. Transline's technical translators are very familiar with the local conditions and guarantee an optimal adaptation and localisation of your documentation.
